ReSurge Brand Refresh

ReSurge International builds, scales, and sustains reconstructive surgical capacity in low- and middle-income countries. This noble not-for-profit provides life-changing care to those with the greatest need—and they are poised for incredible growth in Africa, South America and Southeast Asia. As a pro-bono project, Kora Design Works helped them develop a fresh look for new phases of growth.

A good foundation

The previous designers who developed the ReSurge branding gave the organization a good start, and the existing logo icon had considerable brand equity among donors and organizational peers. However, their was room to improve the typography, colors, and consistency of the organizations literature.

So rather than start over, we decided a refresh was in order to modernize the existing logo, type and colors, then roll that out to a new presence in digital and printed media.

“I’ve been working with Drew for over five years, and he has truly become an extension of our team. He was instrumental in our brand refresh, elevating our graphic and brand design in a way that modernized our look while staying true to our essence.”

My history with ReSurge

My partnership with ReSurge began in 2020. A production team from Frank Seattle was documenting ReSurge’s work at Kurtipur Hospital in Kathmandu, Nepal. I was hired to join Frank’s crew as a photographer and grip. I admired the ReSurge team’s commitment to an honorable mission and I knew I wanted to help more. That lead to many conversations about the potential of graphic design to help them tell their story, enhance fundraising and, ultimately, help more patients. I’ve been collaborating with ReSurge as an art director and design consultant ever since.
